Rush Limbaugh discourages Haiti donations
WASHINGTON (AP) — The White House is firing back at Rush Limbaugh after the conservative talk radio host urged people not to donate to relief efforts in Haiti.
Spokesman Robert Gibbs says there are always people who say "really stupid things" during a crisis. He says it's sad that Limbaugh would use the power of his pulpit to convince people not to assist those in need.
Limbaugh said on his radio show Wednesday that he wouldn't trust that money donated to Haiti through the White House Web site would actually go to the relief efforts. He said Americans don't need to contribute to earthquake relief because they already donate to Haiti through their income taxes.

Ahh, Rush, ever the humanitarian, inserting politics into humanitarian aid.
And what about that Pat Robertson guy? Geez, almost makes me want to be an atheist. See the quotes here.
Can Barbara Bush be far behind?

Re: Rush Limbaugh discourages Haiti donations
Well, let's not forget that Rush isn't the only one out there making dumbass comments on this topic.
Pat Robertson says Haiti paying for 'pact to the devil'
(CNN) -- Pat Robertson, the evangelical Christian who once suggested God was punishing Americans with Hurricane Katrina, says a "pact to the devil" brought on the devastating earthquake in Haiti.
Officials fear more than 100,000 people have died as a result of Tuesday's 7.0-magnitude earthquake in Haiti.
Robertson, the host of the "700 Club," blamed the tragedy on something that "happened a long time ago in Haiti, and people might not want to talk about it."
The Haitians "were under the heel of the French. You know, Napoleon III and whatever," Robertson said on his broadcast Wednesday. "And they got together and swore a pact to the devil. They said, 'We will serve you if you will get us free from the French.' True story. And so, the devil said, 'OK, it's a deal.' "
Native Haitians defeated French colonists in 1804 and declared independence.
"You know, the Haitians revolted and got themselves free. But ever since, they have been cursed by one thing after the other." Robertson has previously linked natural disasters and terrorist attacks to legalized abortion in the United States. Soon after Hurricane Katrina ravaged the Gulf Coast, killing more than 1,800 and wreaking unprecedented devastation on New Orleans, Louisiana, Robertson weighed in with his own theory.
"We have killed over 40 million unborn babies in America," Robertson said on his September 12, 2005, broadcast of "700 Club."
"I was reading, yesterday, a book that was very interesting about what God has to say in the Old Testament about those who shed innocent blood. And he [the author] used the term that those who do this, 'the land will vomit you out.' ... But have we found we are unable somehow to defend ourselves against some of the attacks that are coming against us, either by terrorists or now by natural disaster? Could they be connected in some way?"
I never though Robert Gibbs would ever say something I actually agreed with, but he was pretty close with, " It never ceases to amaze that in times of human suffering somebody could say something so utterly stupid."

It is really quite indicative of their character, and inhuman. Both men are rich, disgusting worshippers of the almighty dollar AKA Mammon, and when you worship that, you can't give a shit about anyone else. They are the epitome of the base of the human race. Two pied pipers leading the sheep over the cliff of lunacy. So pathetic.

And I think Gibbs wanted to say more than stupid, but he can't. Because what they said is beyond stupid. It is hateful and evil, especially since both men have such a large number of people who listen to them.

Re: Rush Limbaugh discourages Haiti donations
I have friends who have family in Haiti. I shall call them and ask after their loved ones. Does anybody know if communication lines are to Haiti are even still open?
I'm really past the point of being able to be truly shocked by heartless and inane comments from both Limbaugh and Robertson. It might be nice if they said things that could really discredit them to, and alienate them from, the dittoheads and 700 clubbers, but at this point it's almost impossible to imagine that anything they say could actually accomplish such a feat.
Most of Haiti's really pretty scary, even in the best of times. I hope things aren't getting too desperate.
Does anybody know if the quake somehow failed to significantly affect the Dominican Republic?

I'd love to hear what some conservatives have to say about this.
