Default Re: Healthcare--for everyone

nbcnews.com reports that a new 'compromise' for a healthcare bill is being floated around GOP members of Congress, so they can work on passing it when they come back next week.

This, in case you are in doubt, is REALLY BAD NEWS for everyone breathing whose insurance isn't covered for life--like, say, MEMBERS OF CONGRESS--or who aren't really, really, really rich--like all the CEOs and millionaires who are now the Cabinet of the current dumpster fire of an administration.

How bad? Expensively bad. So expensive no one but the uber rich will be able to afford it.

Oh yeah, of course, THIS piece of crap 'compromise' says that they will keep the preexisting condition protection--on paper, at least. In reality, they will make it impossible for anyone but the wealthy to afford insurance--or HEALTH, period.

And this is going on behind the scenes, without review or study by the Congressional Budget Office--just so that the awful orange menace can crow about passing *HIS* healthcare BS before the 100 days mark.

In news that surprise no one who is paying attention, GOP members of Congress would be very happy to keep the ACA healthcare protections for themselves and their staff, while screwing their constituents and the rest of the country. (source)

This is not normal.

These pieces of garbage masquerading as elected officials have a DUTY to work for the best interests of the citizens. Instead, they are now openly working for themselves.

If you are human, and thus, not immune to illness or accident, you may want to talk to your own elected officials about this abuse.

If you think that you will be exempted from the fallout if this goes through, I hope karma protects your loved ones.

If you really want to know more about how the slightly modified proposal for Trumpcare would screw YOU personally, I highly recommend reading this thread on twitter.

Note, you don't *have* to be on twitter to click on that link and read it.

In that thread, there are brief explanations of the MANY problems, for citizens and people who are not billionaires, in this new, more horrible version of the so-called 'health' plan, and a LOT of links to further, more detailed information on the different issues.

If you, like me and most everyone, have not certified guarantee that you'll remain healthy and hale for the rest of your natural life, you may want to read, educate yourself, and call your elected officials about how they want to shaft you for breathing.

Right now, GOP in Congress do not have enough votes to shaft their constituents.

You can help kill this disastrous bill.

Call.

Call 866-426-2631. That is the CAP Hotline. Ask them to connect you with a Republican representative from your ZIP CODE, and give them a piece of your mind.

The GOP is, once again, trying to get the AHCA--which provides no essential health benefits, allows insurers to cap benefits, and to deny insurance to anyone they deem to have a pre-existing condition (note: one abnormal papsmear? pre-existing condition)--passed this week, by Wednesday.

Also remember: ACA was always a first step, not the "be all, solve all" of healthcare. AHCA benefits only corporations.

And, in case it wasn't clear yet: GOP members of Congress modified the original AHCA to exempt themselves and their staff from the benefits caps, pre-exisiting conditions clause, etc. They will happily preserve those benefits for themselves, while shafting YOU, their constituents. Think about whether this is fine by you, your health, and your wallet.

Since no one is immune to accidents or aging, you may, just *may* want to consider calling your Representative and telling them what you think about losing coverage and benefits.

Good luck.

Here, to make it even easier and less time consuming, here's a link to a cheatsheet on how you can do your bit to save your own health care coverage.
